VP of Cyber Risk engineering
Brendan Fitzpatrick is a Vice President of Axio. Axio is a cyber risk-engineering firm that helps organizations implement more comprehensive cyber risk management based on an approach that harmonizes cybersecurity technology/controls and cyber risk transfer. Brendan’s responsibilities center on delivering all facets of Axio’s cyber risk engineering approach to clients, with a specific focus on cyber program design and implementation.
Previously, Brendan was a senior member of the technical staff at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University, where he led the Cyber Risk and Resilience Management Team. In this role, Brendan was responsible for a team of 11 security experts and a rolling portfolio of cybersecurity improvement projects. Prior to his time at the SEI, Brendan served as an army officer for over 12 years. He specialized in physical security operations, intelligence collection and analysis, and network security. His final assignment in the army was with U.S. Army Cyber Command as a Senior Network Security Engineer. There Brendan was charged with leading several initiatives to improve the security posture of army networks, advising the commanding general on technical matters, and managing the continuity of operations program for the organization.
Brendan has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the Virginia Military Institute and a Master of Science in Information Security and Assurance from George Mason University. He teaches computer programming and cybersecurity classes as an adjunct instructor at Northern Virginia Community College. Brendan also maintains both his Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certifications.
